wine description

Velvety cherry with smoky liquorice.

The Schubert Block B Pinot Noir impresses with its clear ruby red color, which is interspersed with garnet-red reflections. The color conveys elegance and finesse, while the delicate transparency underlines the typical style of a Pinot Noir.

The bouquet seduces with red fruits such as cherries, raspberries and strawberries, complemented by fine notes of oak, vanilla and chocolate. Earthy accents, smoke and a hint of liquorice add complexity and make the aromas multi-layered.

On the palate, the wine is velvety and balanced with fine-grained tannins. Fruity notes of cherries and plums harmonize with spicy nuances such as pepper and liquorice. An elegant play of acidity gives freshness, while the finish is long and aromatic.

The Pinot Noir is cultivated in Wairarapa, New Zealand, a region known for its cool climate and mineral soils. The aging in French barriques creates a harmonious balance between fruit, spice and wood and gives the wine elegance.

Schubert Wines

They emigrated to New Zealand because it has the perfect conditions for cool climate Pinot Noir.

At the end of his school days in the Swabian town of Waiblingen, Kai Schubert already knew two things for sure: "Pinot Noir is my passion" and "I want to be a winemaker". No sooner said than done. After completing his viticulture studies in Geisenheim, the career changer began a worldwide search for the right place for a winery with the best conditions for Pinot Noir - and he chose New Zealand. In 1998, Kai emigrated to New Zealand with his partner Marion, who also became a winemaker. In Martinborough, in the very south of New Zealand's North Island, the two began planting vines on 14 hectares and realizing their dream of owning their own winery. In 2003, the first wines from Schubert Wines finally came onto the market. The success story begins...
