No matter which aspect of winemaking one picks out or which external factor one considers, John Skinner uncompromisingly implements his plan for the best possible wine quality with Painted Rock. No detail is overlooked. For example, the valuable soil of the existing peach orchard was not bulldozed away, but each tree stump was individually removed before vines were planted. And the Syrah was planted where a cool airflow through a small gorge creates the perfect microclimate. The list of examples is endless.

Sustainability and organic farming are very important. From the very first harvest, the winery was showered with decorated awards from the established wine industry and praised by the most renowned wine critics. For us, this is a secondary aspect, because the focus is on the outstanding quality of Painted Rock wines.
