Long Meadow Ranch
Full Circle Farm in Napa Valley.
The Hall family in Napa Valley in California is committed to holistic sustainability. Their approach is full circle farming, where wine, vegetables and fruit are grown in parallel with livestock farming. All factors are interdependent and take each other to a completely new level.
A farm with a long meadow in the Mayacamas Mountains is the focal point of Full Circle Farming.
The goal is to produce first-class wines - the by-products are unique and are used in the restaurant and at the weekly market. The entrepreneur and trombonist Ted Hall moved to California with his wife Laddie in the 1970s and immediately became a great wine lover. The dream of having his own vineyard eventually led him to buy a fallow and overgrown piece of land with a characteristic long meadow and a farmhouse: the Long Meadow Ranch.
With a lot of sweat, passion and belief in the success of the Full Circle Farming concept, the land was transformed into well-tended farmland, where son Chris now grows wine, olives and over 500 rare types of vegetables and fruit. An important part of the entire mission is the animal component: Highland cattle and chickens provide fertilizer, meat and eggs. Along with the farm's own bees, they keep the Long Meadow Ranch ecosystem in balance. All of the farm's products are very popular in the farm's own restaurant and at local farmers' markets.
The location, the Napa Valley, plays a crucial role when it comes to wine. Wines from the Napa Valley enjoy an excellent reputation and guarantee the highest quality and uniqueness. With vineyards in Rutherford, in the Mayacamas Mountains and in St. Helena, the vineyards also reflect the rich diversity of the Napa Valley. The exotic vineyards are the vines in the Anderson Valley outside the Napa Valley - Burgundian conditions prevail in northern California - compared to the Mediterranean Napa Valley. The result: an exciting range of attractive Californian premium wines.
Full Circle Farming & Nature Conservation.
The concept of the Full Circle Farm is based on the basic idea that no biomass is waste, but can be reused elsewhere. This means that in addition to a special compost concept and solar systems that make the project energy self-sufficient, plants and animals are particularly important. Bees pollinate all plants, be they olives, wine or one of the more than 500 rare types of vegetables and fruits. Cattle and chickens provide the fertilizer for the cultivation projects, while vegetables, fruit and hay form the nutritional basis for Highland cattle and chickens. The output of the farming concept ends up in highly frequented restaurants and at the weekly market. A farm concept in perfect balance.
The Hall family is very concerned about protecting the soil, water and vitality of the farmland and nature on the Long Meadow Ranch. In order to protect themselves against the tendency towards overdevelopment in the Napa Valley and to prevent the meadows and mountains from being built on, the Hall family was able to obtain a guarantee from respected institutions in the country: their farmland will be protected as such forever and will never be built on.
Timothy Hall Foundation & Corkage for community.
Tragically, the Hall family lost their youngest son, Timothy, to an aneurysm at the age of 13. Like his brother Chris, he was a keen gardener. In one episode of the brothers' story, they grew organic vegetables as children and cared for their plants as if they were little siblings. The children successfully sold the produce at the weekly market.
Fueled by this passion and belief in gardening, the Timothy Hall Foundation is committed to introducing innovative school gardens and animal and music projects in schools.
The various locations at Long Meadow Ranch allow guests to bring their own wine. A corkage fee is charged, which is donated to various local social projects in Napa Valley. You can apply for the donation project online.
"Our mission is to produce world-class wine & food. We achieve this excellence through responsible farming."

North Coast.
The Hall family is supported in Napa Valley by two Californian winemakers, Lisanne and Justin, who know Napa Valley like the back of their hand but still add their own touch to the wines by living abroad. In Anderson Valley, Burgundian winemaker Stéphane is at the helm and produces exciting wines in Northern California.
