Mayer Weine stands for 200 years of winemaking tradition. In 2014, Felix Mayer joined his parents' business and began to implement his vision of natural, top-quality wines.

Anyone who gets to know Felix Mayer is usually impressed by his positive, straightforward and always authentic manner. Felix's wines could be described in a similar way. He himself says: "It all starts with a vine and an idea. I find it fascinating to create wines in daily interaction with nature - if possible without chemical aids, without compromises. For me, "unfiltered" is not just a technical question, but a way of life."

In the basement there is controlled inactivity.

“We see the vineyard as the basis of our work and our lives and try to treat nature as gently and respectfully as possible. For us, this includes both greening our vineyards and largely avoiding fertilizers and herbicides. In the vineyard, we try to create perfect conditions for our wines through consistent yield reduction and a lot of manual work. In contrast, we work minimally invasively in the cellar and give our wines a lot of time, peace and attention. We try to keep interventions to a minimum,” says Felix.

A heart for the Northern Palatinate.

You might think that Felix, as a young guy, already has enough to do coordinating an entire winery. Nevertheless, he never misses an opportunity to get involved in his region and his immediate neighborhood. During the Corona pandemic, Felix donated grape juice spritzers to the surrounding hospitals. To support local producers, Felix organized vending machines and, together with a vegetable farmer friend, he is growing fruit and vegetables according to the highest sustainability standards. Felix is what you would call a real "Palatinate boy."

Die Lage

Along the German Wine Route.

Felix Mayer cultivates 10 vineyards, lined up like a string of pearls along the northern wine route between Asselheim and Bad Dürkheim. The soils range from sandy loam soil with lime deposits in Bad Dürkheim to red sandstone in Mertesheim and the heavily limestone loess soil in Asselheim. These minerals, in combination with the climatic conditions, give each vineyard its own signature.
