wine description

Blackcurrant with mature undergrowth.

The Gevrey Chambertin Bel Air Premier Cru from Taupenot-Merme is a bright ruby red with garnet reflections. The brilliant clarity and intense color depth testify to the quality of this high-class Burgundy wine.

On the nose we perceive incredibly intense dark fruit: black currant, cherry, juniper. A hint of orange peel and chestnut. Violet and lavender also play a part in an aromatic experience of undergrowth. On the palate you perceive ripe plums and earthy elegance. The impression is precise, powerful and long.

Domaine Taupenot - Merme

Virginie and Romain have revived a sleeping giant.

The siblings Virginie and Romain Taupenot cultivate over 13 hectares with 19 appellations from Auxey-Duressees in the south to Gevrey-Chambertin in the north of the Côte d'Or, producing a range that is as diverse as it is qualitatively homogeneous. Since the beginning of the millennium, organic farming without labels has revived a wine region that was born in 1974 from the union of the two owner families and that has since then awaited the passionate commitment of the current generation of owners to revive the full potential of the highly sought-after plots, in particular Mazoyères-Chambertin and Charmes Chambertin in the Grand Cru.
