Domaine Jean Fery
Sustainable, family-run, terroir-obsessed.
Domaine Jean Féry & Fils is a fifth-generation family-run Burgundy winery that combines organic viticulture with traditional craftsmanship. Covering around 14 hectares in the most famous appellations, they produce Burgundy wines with character – authentic, terroir-driven, and internationally acclaimed.
Burgundy's natural diversity in a glass – cherished worldwide for generations.
The roots of Domaine Jean Féry date back to the 19th century, when the family cultivated not only wine but also currants in the Burgundian village of Échevronne (Side Note: Legend has it that these black currants once formed part of the perfume icon Chanel No. 5). In 1980, Marcelle and Jean Féry founded the winery under their own name, and their son Jean-Louis Féry took over in 1988. With great passion, he expanded the family winery with new vineyards and modern cellar technology. Today, the vineyards cover about 14 hectares – spread across numerous renowned appellations from the Côte de Nuits to the Côte Chalonnaise. The winery has been organic certified since 2011. In the cellar, the team relies on traditional methods, carefully tending to the wines and avoiding unnecessary technology. Jean-Louis' motto is simple: "Quality is priceless." The next generation is already at the helm: his sons Frédéric and Laurent continue to run the Domaine with the same passion. You can taste all of this in every bottle – Burgundy to fall in love with, honest and unadulterated.
Respect for the vine and the environment
For Jean Féry, nature conservation is not a marketing buzzword but a lived practice: the vineyards have been officially farmed organically since 2011. Chemical sprays are not even used on the vines here. Jean-Louis Féry consciously opted for organic viticulture out of respect for the soil and the health of his employees. This means more manual labor, diverse cover crops between the vines, and abstaining from synthetic fertilizers. The reward: robust, vibrant vines and grapes of the highest quality. As a result, the wines require less sulfur and appear particularly clear, delicate, and digestible.
Authentic Winemaking — No Frills
Domaine Jean Féry represents honest craftsmanship without much fuss. In the cellar, restraint reigns: the red wines ferment spontaneously with vineyard-specific yeasts and then age carefully in oak barrels. Nothing is fined or filtered here – it's unadulterated and full of character. Modern machinery is only used where it genuinely benefits the wine; everything else is manual labor in the service of quality. You won't find any showmanship here – what matters is the origin in the glass. Each vintage sincerely reflects its terroir and precisely for that reason impresses with its unmistakable personality.
For Burgundy and its people.
For the Féry family, responsibility doesn't end at their own cellar door. As early as 1959, Louis Féry's children were involved in a young vintners' group to pass on knowledge and experience to the next generation. This commitment bore fruit: in 1961, the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune and Hautes-Côtes de Nuits officially received AOC status – a milestone for the region. The Domaine continues to foster this community spirit to this day. Whether in local winemakers' associations or simply through collegial exchange, the Férys generously share their expertise and their love for Burgundian wine culture with others. In this way, this social tradition remains vibrant and benefits the entire region.
"Quality is priceless."
