Los Pedregales 2022
Los Pedregales
Los Pedregales
Tropical fruit meets minerality.
The Los Pedregales Godello presents itself in a pale straw yellow with delicate greenish reflections. Its radiant clarity and light viscosity in the glass suggest a fresh and elegant white wine.
The nose is dominated by aromas of tropical fruits such as lychee and passion fruit, complemented by subtle nuances of citrus fruits and apple. Delicate notes of brioche and mineral hints lend depth and complexity to the bouquet.
On the palate, the wine unfolds creamy and harmonious, with lively acidity and pronounced fruit richness. Tropical fruits and subtle spice are accompanied by a fine minerality, leading into a long, elegant finish.
This Godello comes from the stony, slate-rich soils of the Bierzo region, which give the wine its characteristic minerality. The grapes are carefully hand-picked and partly aged in stainless steel tanks, partly in wooden barrels, to maintain the balance between freshness and complexity.
The 100-year-old vines of the Amigo family in the Spanish northwest
A little-known wine region in northwestern Spain. Exciting grape varieties and some century-old vines. A family that has been growing wine with dedication and passion for generations.
We are at Bodega Luzdivina in the Bierzo region in the far northwest of Spain, where Mencia grapes produce wines of the highest rank and character.
The wines are heavily influenced in the vineyard, as the unique characteristics of the soils and locations are utilized and preserved here.
One does not have to contradict that the great red wines of Spain come from Rioja and Priorat. But for some years now, a small region in the northwest of the country has emerged as a true high-flyer.
Bierzo constantly impresses with its great red wines made from the Mencia grape. These wines are not just a discovery, but a real highlight, as they are rich, structured, and graceful.
The Amigo family has been cultivating grapevines in the region for many generations. A total of 18 hectares of land are tended, spread over more than 120 small parcels, which are not far from each other. For the family, the soul of the wines comes from these small vineyards.
The vines do not grow on trellises as we know them, but as small free-standing bushes on the barren, stony soils.
The Mencia and Godello vines are between 50 and 100 years old. The old, almost disappeared grape varieties Jerez, Doña Blanca, and Garnacha Tintorera are also grown there.
