Baloiro Reserva 2017

Baloiro Reserva
Baloiro Reserva

Exciting blackberry with floral leather.
The ruby red Baloiro Reserva has dark reflections.
Aromas of dark jam and exciting blackberries spread on the nose. The aromatic framework is provided by floral notes and spicy notes of savory and liquorice. Earthy aromas such as mushroom and leather are perfectly complemented by cloves and vanilla.
The dry wine has a present acidity, which creates an exciting balance with smooth tannins.
The vines for the Baloiro Reserva are 60 - 90 years old. The wine contains 100% Mencia. The wine was aged for 15 months in French oak.
The 100-year-old vines of the Amigo family in the Spanish northwest
A little-known wine region in the northwest of Spain. Exciting grape varieties and some vines that are hundreds of years old. A family that has been growing wine with dedication and passion for generations.
We are at the Bodega Luzdivina in the Bierzo region in the northwest of Spain, where the Menica grape is used to produce wines of the highest quality and character.
The wines are strongly influenced in the vineyard, as the unique characteristics of the soils and locations are utilized and preserved here.
There is no denying that the great red wines of Spain come from Rioja and Priorat. However, in recent years a small region in the northwest of the country has emerged as a real high-flyer.
Bierzo never fails to impress with its great red wines made from the Mencia grape. These wines are not just a discovery, but a real highlight because they are rich, structured and graceful.
The Amigo family has been cultivating vines in the region for many generations. In total, they cultivate 18 hectares of land, which are divided into more than 120 small plots, which are not far from each other. For the family, the soul of the wines comes from these small vineyards.
The vines do not grow on wire systems as we are used to, but as small free-standing bushes on the barren, stony soil. A total of 18 hectares of land are used, which are spread over more than 120 small plots, which are not far from each other. For the family, the soul of the wines comes from these small vineyards.
The vines of Mencia and Godello are between 50 and 100 years old. The old, almost extinct grape varieties Jerez, Doña Blanca and Garnacha Tintorera are also grown there.
