Pinot Noir
Brut Origine
Green apple with crystal-clear nutty minerality.
Brilliant pale gold with a gleam like polished brass. The perlage? Fine as pinpricks, precise, and rising endlessly. Each thread of bubbles looks as if it were drawn with a compass – a visual promise of finesse, freshness, and absolute control in the cellar craftsmanship.
Citrus and green apple dance on the nose, flanked by ripe pear and a delicate hint of red currant from the Pinot Noir. Fresh brioche notes, almond blossom, and a touch of chalk join in – like a stroll on chalky ground with a croissant in hand.
On the palate, it’s an attack: taut, fresh, and crystal clear on the entry. Chardonnay provides tension, while Pinot brings juicy fruit and subtle spice. A creamy texture caresses the vibrant acidity. The finish? Mineral, salty, with fine grip and an echo of roasted nuts.
Traditional bottle fermentation and months of aging on lees lend this Brut its elegance. 70% Chardonnay provides the backbone structure, while 30% Pinot Noir brings warmth and red fruit. The dosage of 9 g/L creates perfect balance: dry in character, but with a silky melt – pure craftsmanship from Champagne.
Artisanal Champagne Craftsmanship from Vitryat – Chardonnay, Family Tradition, and Rare Terroir United
More than 50 years ago, Jean and Suzanne L'Hoste laid the foundation in Bassuet for a family adventure that is now being continued by the third generation. Their children Pascal and Dominique passionately managed the estate before Clément, the next generation, took over – young, ambitious, and determined to further develop the legacy.
The winery cultivates around 18 hectares in the Côteaux Vitryats – one of the most hidden treasures of Champagne. This area was only reclassified as an official Champagne terroir in 1968 after devastating crises. Today, it accounts for just 1% of the appellation, with almost 97% of that being Chardonnay. The subsoil? Turonian chalk, one of Champagne's oldest formations, interspersed with marl – the foundation for racy, fresh, yet also exotically appealing wines.
The L'Hostes focus on gentle cultivation, hand harvesting, and a vinification that reveals the pure signature of the terroir. Not mass-produced goods, but artisanal Champagnes that age on the lees significantly longer than regulations require. The collection ranges from the classic Brut Tradition to the award-winning Blanc de Blancs – always with the goal of making the authenticity of the Côteaux Vitryats palpable in every bottle.
