Weißburgunder Tuniberg
Weißburgunder Tuniberg

Green apple with juicy almond.
The Weissburgunder Tuniberg has a clear, pale gold color with delicate green reflections. In the glass it shimmers vividly, with slightly viscous streaks that indicate its elegance and moderate structure. An inviting appearance that promises freshness.
Fine aromas of green apple, pear and citrus fruits unfold on the nose, accompanied by a hint of white flowers. Subtle notes of almond and wet stone give the bouquet an elegant, mineral depth. A fresh, expressive scent.
On the palate, the wine is dry, with a lively acid structure and a harmonious, soft mouthfeel. Notes of juicy apple, pear and lemon dominate, complemented by a light almond note. The finish is clear, precise and refreshing.
This Pinot Blanc comes from the Tuniberg, a particularly calcareous terroir in Baden. The vines grow on sun-drenched slopes, which gives the wine freshness and maturity. Careful hand-picking and gentle vinification produce a clear, mineral white wine.
Baden pioneers: Aging Burgundy in French barriques was a novelty.
For the “Gebrüder Mathis”, winegrowing on the Tuniberg began two generations ago with a decision: the brothers Bernhard and Paul Mathis began to cultivate the storage areas of their parents' gypsum quarry as vineyards. The brothers quickly realized that their wines had not yet reached their full potential. They therefore decided to mature their Burgundy in French barriques - a first for Baden wine at the time. Inspired by the positive response to a wine that was not intended for sale, but only for their own use, the “Gebrüder Mathis” winery was founded in the 1970s.
