Dehesa de los Canónigos
Spain's number 1 winery.
Spain's most expensive red wines come from Ivan and Belen's neighborhood. The two resist buying expensive brand labels - and will reach #1 among Spain's best wineries by 2025.
Dehesa de los Canonigos is one of the great historical estates of the Ribera del Duero and one of the best Tempranillo producers – and all without any “brand stickers”.
Ribera del Duero - This region produces Spain's most expensive red wines, and it's teeming with names that command hundreds of euros per bottle – Pingus, Vega Sicilia, Emilio Moro, and many more.
These are the neighbors of Belen and Ivan, who are now running their Dehesa los Canonigos for the 5th generation. The name translates to "Pasture of the Canons" and refers to the canons of the cathedral in Valladolid and their possessions in the region.
The two siblings form a perfect team. Belen's domain is the wine cellar, while Ivan handles the management of the winery and the accompanying agricultural land. With great passion, the two siblings produce wines that can easily compete with their neighbors: they manage to reach the top at a fair price. In 2025, the winery was ranked number 1 among all wineries by the renowned magazine "Verema". Without purchased "brand labels".
All organic or what?
There are many definitions of what NATURAL means in winemaking. Not all winemakers are certified to treat nature responsibly. So we check for ourselves on site whether a winemaker meets our standards for treating the natural product wine.
✔ Organic, vegan, unfiltered, natural, etc.
✔ Biodiversity instead of monoculture
✔ Natural products produced at the pace of nature
No brand stickers.
Belen and Ivan are committed to offering premium wines at a fair price. They cultivate similar vineyards to their neighbors, who then charge hundreds of euros. They refuse to play the game of brand stickers and purchased awards, which allow them to charge a lower price.
Responsibility for the team in the engine room
The work in winemaking is often physically demanding and time-consuming, and not just during harvest time. Cheap workers from low-wage countries are popular. Against this background, high standards in the SOCIAL area are of fundamental importance to us.
✔ Fair wages and humane treatment
✔ Social responsibility
✔ Social commitment
"The best Tempranillos in Spain come from Ribera del Duero. Not Rioja."
