Blue Farm
The Pinot Pioneer.
Blue Farm is the passion project of German Pinot pioneer Anne Moller-Racke. In California, with great sensitivity, she crafts Burgundy-inspired Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays grown in five selected vineyards across Sonoma. Strict manual labor in the vineyard and minimalist cellar work shape her wines of strong character.
The Pinot pioneer and her next success.
Anne Moller-Racke founded Blue Farm out of passion, planting Pinot Noir on just under 3 hectares directly behind her Victorian farmhouse in Sonoma in 2001; today, she has quadrupled her acreage. A native German and founding force behind the successful Donum Estate, she can now draw on over 40 years of experience. She once helped establish Carneros as a top region for Pinot, and today she is realizing her own vision. Supported by her daughter Hannah Gropman, Blue Farm consciously remains small: each parcel is personally tended, and each cuvée often comprises only around 250 cases. Five vineyards in five AVAs (including Carneros, Russian River Valley, and Sonoma Coast) provide the grape foundation. Here, everything focuses on Pinot Noir (and some Chardonnay) in the spirit of Burgundian Grand Crus. The result is wines full of depth and finesse, created through meticulous viticulture and Anne's tireless dedication. One can truly sense the connection between winemaker, passion, and land in every glass.
In harmony with nature.
Blue Farm is committed to passionate, sustainable viticulture. For several years now, all vineyards have been organically farmed. Herbicides like glyphosate are nowhere to be found here. Instead, the vine rows hum and chirp with life: ladybugs, rabbits, and even frogs are returning, testifying to the newly awakened biodiversity. "Although we are not certified, we work completely organically," emphasizes Annes' daughter Hannah. Weeds are cut by hand, and chemical agents are avoided. Water is also used carefully; thanks to water-retaining soils, only precise irrigation is needed. This green philosophy gives the wines a natural energy and restores health to the land.
Honest wines without masquerade.
From the vineyard to the bottle, Blue Farm relies on honesty and uncompromising quality. Anne and her team guide the wines with traditional and restrained methods, ensuring that every drop genuinely expresses its terroir and vintage. Artificial fining or excessive technology are not used. You can taste this authentic craftsmanship: the wines are down-to-earth and full of character, far from any contrived showmanship. Blue Farm thus stands for honesty in the glass. Wines that deliver what their origin promises.
Rooted in community and enjoyment.
Blue Farm is about more than just wine—it's about community, fairness, and giving back. Anne Moller-Racke treats her team and the vineyard helpers like an extended family and values fair working conditions. Her commitment to the Sonoma region is equally strong: she enthusiastically shares her knowledge with others, for example, in free workshops for amateur winemakers. Additionally, Blue Farm is dedicated to protecting rescued farm animals in Sonoma and supports regional initiatives that make a positive impact. Blue Farm demonstrates that true wine goes hand in hand with true togetherness: here, tradition is lived with social passion.
