Pinot Gris Tradition 2024
Pinot Gris Tradition
Pinot Gris Tradition
Juicy Fruit & Melt-in-your-mouth Spice
A brilliant golden yellow with subtle amber reflections – a hue that already hints at the aromatic richness. Swirling the wine, it coats the glass smoothly, its dense legs slowly trailing down the sides – a sign of extract richness and structure.
The nose reveals an opulent fruitiness of juicy peach, ripe pear, and honeydew melon, accompanied by delicate caramel notes and a hint of vanilla. A touch of tropical guava flashes through, while a fine mineral note provides tension.
Creamy, soft and generous, with a gentle acidity and a fine residual sweetness that gives it a smooth texture. Yellow fruits dominate the palate, framed by fine spice and a subtle hint of honey. The finish is long, velvety and accompanied by a subtle minerality.
This Pinot Gris is a classic example of the lush, smooth style typical of Alsace. The grapes come from stony, mineral-rich soils and are gently pressed. Maturation in stainless steel tanks and partly in wood brings out the perfect balance between fruit, spice, and structure.
Tradition as quality assurance.
The Ermel family can look back on an impressive history of winemaking. The craft has been passed down from father to son since 1795. Each generation brings something new, but much remains the same. In the cellar, the beautiful, old built-in tanks are looked after and the shaking table, on which the senior regularly shakes the champagne bottles, has certainly been in use for several decades. Here, David Ermel Senior turns the vintage Crémants by hand every day and adds jokingly: "My sons want me to be busy enough too." Traditionally, mainly white grape varieties are bottled here, but a small area of Pinot Noir is also cultivated.
