Weinbeschreibung

Precise cherry with smoky truffle.

In the glass, the Clos des Lambrays glows in a deep ruby red with a slightly transparent core – almost like a piece of red silk against the light. The edges show first hints of garnet, a sign of maturity and balance. Delicately sparkling, filigree yet concentrated, it announces a quiet grandeur.

The nose offers precise cherry fruit meeting rosehip, dried roses, and damp forest floor. Subtle notes of smoke, cedar, and pepper resonate. Not a loud bouquet, but an orchestrated whisper that reveals depth, origin, and experience in fine nuances – complex, elegant, understatedly grand.

On the palate, it dances with silky tannins and an acidity that carries the wine like a cool mountain breeze. Ripe red fruits, undergrowth, and a hint of truffle intertwine to create a lingering, harmonious finish. No show of force, but precision – finely chiseled, focused, with inner tension rather than loudness.

Clos des Lambrays is one of Burgundy's oldest Grand Cru sites – a mosaic of limestone, clay, and iron. Taupenot-Merme works biodynamically here, with minimal intervention, to preserve the pure identity of the parcel. The result: Pinot Noir in its purest form – subtle, vibrant, and terroir-driven down to the very last drop.

Domaine Taupenot - Merme

Virginie and Romain have revived a sleeping giant.

The siblings Virginie and Romain Taupenot cultivate over 13 hectares with 19 appellations from Auxey-Duressees in the south to Gevrey-Chambertin in the north of the Côte d'Or, producing a range that is as diverse as it is qualitatively homogeneous. Since the beginning of the millennium, organic farming without labels has revived a wine region that was born in 1974 from the union of the two owner families and that has since then awaited the passionate commitment of the current generation of owners to revive the full potential of the highly sought-after plots, in particular Mazoyères-Chambertin and Charmes Chambertin in the Grand Cru.
