The Bride Valley winery in Great Britain, founded in 1987 by Steven and Bella Spurrier, produces first-class sparkling wines and is a worthy competitor to Champagne. The chalky soils and the similar climate to Champagne provide ideal conditions for winegrowing. Steven Spurrier's expertise and his influence at the "Judgment of Paris" in 1976, where Californian wines surprisingly outperformed French ones, shape the Bride Valley wines. After Steven Spurrier's death, Bella Spurrier continued to run the winery. The characterful Spurrier wines, which are internationally recognized due to their unique terroir, are grown on 10 hectares.
