Founded in 1987 by Steven and Bella Spurrier, Bride Valley Winery in Great Britain produces first-class sparkling wines and offers worthy competition to Champagne. The chalk soils and similar climate to Champagne provide ideal conditions for viticulture. Steven Spurrier's expertise and his influence at the "Judgement of Paris" in 1976, where Californian wines surprisingly surpassed French ones, characterize Bride Valley wines. After Steven Spurrier's death, Bella Spurrier continues to run the winery. The distinctive Spurrier wines are cultivated on 10 hectares and are internationally recognized for their unique terroir.
