Vosne-Romanée Premier Cru En Orveaux

Weinbeschreibung

Ripe sour cherry with silky forest floor.

In the glass, a delicate ruby red with a slightly transparent core – like a silk cloth against the light. Not a dark powerhouse, but delicate and shimmering, with garnet-red reflections at the rim. A sight that promises: Subtlety with depth comes into play here.

The nose reveals red currants, ripe cranberries, and sour cherries – bright, clear, almost ethereal. Complementing these are dried violets, a hint of citrus zest, and damp forest floor after rain. Subtle wood notes – more fine vanilla than overt toast – lend depth and elegance to the aromatic profile.

On the palate, it's taut, cool, and sinewy like a lean marathon runner. The tannins are silken and integrated, never dominant. The acidity flows like a clear mountain stream – precise, but not sharp. The finish lingers, with balsamic freshness and earthy spice that resonates.

The wine comes from the Premier Cru vineyard En Orveaux – located on the edge of Echézeaux, barren, chalky, and at a high altitude. The aging in barriques is restrained, without overpowering the fruit. Here, the terroir speaks – not the cellar. And that's exactly what makes it so special.

Domaine Jean Fery

Burgundy's natural diversity in a glass – cherished worldwide for generations.

The roots of Domaine Jean Féry date back to the 19th century, when the family cultivated not only wine but also currants in the Burgundian village of Échevronne (Side Note: Legend has it that these black currants once formed part of the perfume icon Chanel No. 5). In 1980, Marcelle and Jean Féry founded the winery under their own name, and their son Jean-Louis Féry took over in 1988. With great passion, he expanded the family winery with new vineyards and modern cellar technology. Today, the vineyards cover about 14 hectares – spread across numerous renowned appellations from the Côte de Nuits to the Côte Chalonnaise. The winery has been organic certified since 2011. In the cellar, the team relies on traditional methods, carefully tending to the wines and avoiding unnecessary technology. Jean-Louis' motto is simple: "Quality is priceless." The next generation is already at the helm: his sons Frédéric and Laurent continue to run the Domaine with the same passion. You can taste all of this in every bottle – Burgundy to fall in love with, honest and unadulterated.
