Weinbeschreibung

Fine liquorice with fleshy, black berries

Deep and full-bodied in the glass, this Gran Reserva displays an intense purple with sparkling ruby-red edges. The color radiates density and maturity, like a wine that carries time within itself and reveals new facets with every change of light, without tipping into heaviness.

The nose opens with clear, ripe black fruits, underpinned by deep notes of blackcurrant and plum, accompanied by fine liquorice and subtle, spicy hints. The wood aromas are integrated, harmonious with sweet spice notes and restrained dark chocolate.

On the palate, it displays both power and elegance, full-bodied, structured, and with tangible substance. The tannins are present but rounded, supporting the dense fruit profile and the lingering, complex finish. The dark fruit remains present, underpinned by spicy, slightly earthy nuances.

This wine is made exclusively from the best grapes in exceptionally good years. The Tempranillo vines have been growing on the gravelly soils for over 90 years. The wine was aged for 30 months in American oak and 10 months in French wooden barrels.

Dehesa de los Canónigos

Dehesa de los Canonigos is one of the great historical estates of the Ribera del Duero and one of the best Tempranillo producers – and all without any “brand stickers”.

Ribera del Duero - This region produces Spain's most expensive red wines, and it's teeming with names that command hundreds of euros per bottle – Pingus, Vega Sicilia, Emilio Moro, and many more. These are the neighbors of Belen and Ivan, who are now running their Dehesa los Canonigos for the 5th generation. The name translates to "Pasture of the Canons" and refers to the canons of the cathedral in Valladolid and their possessions in the region.
The two siblings form a perfect team. Belen's domain is the wine cellar, while Ivan handles the management of the winery and the accompanying agricultural land. With great passion, the two siblings produce wines that can easily compete with their neighbors: they manage to reach the top at a fair price. In 2025, the winery was ranked number 1 among all wineries by the renowned magazine "Verema". Without purchased "brand labels".
