The nose opens with black cherry, blackberry, and ripe plum, underpinned by hints of licorice and dark earth. Nothing perfumed, rather honest terrain. Swathes of spice like pepper and some smoky wood overlay this, as if the wind came directly from the grill.
A broad attack in the mouth. Warm fruit, velvety tannins, clear grip. The structure holds like a tension cable across a gorge. Acidity provides freshness, alcohol provides a tailwind. The dark berries remain present for a long time. A finish like a slowly fading bass.
