wine description

Black cherry with juicy pepper.

The Gevrey Chambertin Bel Air Premier Cru from Taupenot-Merme is a bright ruby red with garnet reflections. The brilliant clarity and intense color depth testify to the quality of this high-class Burgundy wine.

On the nose, this Premier Cru unfolds tantalizing aromas of ripe dark berries such as black cherries and blackberries. They are accompanied by subtle notes of spices such as cloves and pepper, as well as elegant hints of toasted oak.

On the palate, the Gevrey Chambertin Bel Air Premier Cru delights with a silky texture and remarkable fullness. The fruity aromas continue and blend harmoniously with an elegant acid structure and finely structured tannins. A long-lasting finish rounds off the taste experience.

The Gevrey Chambertin Bel Air Premier Cru is produced with the utmost care and expertise. The grapes come from old vines from renowned locations and mature for 18 months in French oak barrels. This aging gives the wine an impressive complexity, structure and depth.

Domaine Taupenot - Merme

Virginie and Romain have revived a sleeping giant.

The siblings Virginie and Romain Taupenot cultivate over 13 hectares with 19 appellations from Auxey-Duressees in the south to Gevrey-Chambertin in the north of the Côte d'Or, producing a range that is as diverse as it is qualitatively homogeneous. Since the beginning of the millennium, organic farming without labels has revived a wine region that was born in 1974 from the union of the two owner families and that has since then awaited the passionate commitment of the current generation of owners to revive the full potential of the highly sought-after plots, in particular Mazoyères-Chambertin and Charmes Chambertin in the Grand Cru.
