Cabernet Franc 2018

Cabernet Franc
Cabernet Franc

Powerful blackberry with tobacco-spiced chocolate.
An intense, dark ruby red with violet reflections that shows brilliant depth and clarity in the glass. The rich color indicates concentration and maturity, a characteristic feature of a powerful and expressive Cabernet Franc.
The nose is characterized by intense aromas of black fruits such as blackberry and black cherry, complemented by notes of vanilla, chocolate and tobacco. Spicy nuances of pepper and eucalyptus as well as a hint of smoke and leather give the wine a complex, earthy depth.
On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and lush with firm, grippy tannins and a lively acidity. Ripe dark fruits, spices and a delicate chocolate note unfold harmoniously and lead to a long, elegant finish with accents of coffee and baking spices.
This Cabernet Franc is produced on the Skaha Bench single vineyard in the Okanagan Valley. The barren soils and the cool, continental climate promote slow ripening of the grapes, which retain the intensity of aromas and freshness. Aging in oak barrels gives the wine depth and complexity.
Painted Rock is featured in the best wine clubs in London and is still an insider tip in the rest of Europe. That won't be the case for much longer!
No matter what aspect of winemaking you choose or what external factor you consider, John Skinner's plan for the best possible wine quality at Painted Rock is uncompromising. No detail is overlooked. For example, the valuable soil of the existing peach orchard was not leveled, but each tree stump was removed individually before vines were planted. And the Syrah was planted where a cool air flow through a small ravine creates the perfect microclimate. The list of examples is endless.
