The Kirchberger Riesling 2016 dances through the glass in a light golden yellow with greenish reflections.
On the nose we encounter a dense fragrance assemblage. Strong mirabelle plum scent pairs with coconut notes and is surrounded by rose aroma.
The Riesling is also excitingly dense on the palate and impresses with its melting quality, opulent fruit and youthfulness. At the same time, however, it is delicate and well structured. The acidity is taut and exciting. It seems to linger on for an endless time in the finish, like the sound of a large church bell.
This is a really great wine from a great location, the VDP. GROSSEN LAGE Kirchberg. The year 2016 was significantly cooler than the comparable years 2019 and 2015. A wet spring with a lot of rain was very challenging and meant that the harvest was late, into November. Only a very small amount could be harvested.
