    At the end of his school days in the Swabian town of Waiblingen, Kai Schubert already knew two things for sure: "Pinot Noir is my passion" and "I want to be a winemaker". No sooner said than done. After completing his viticulture studies in Geisenheim, the career changer began a worldwide search for the right place for a winery with the best conditions for Pinot Noir - and he chose New Zealand. In 1998, Kai emigrated to New Zealand with his partner Marion, who also became a winemaker. In Martinborough, in the very south of New Zealand's North Island, the two began planting vines on 14 hectares and realizing their dream of owning their own winery.
