La Marciana Rosado

Weinbeschreibung

Juicy strawberry with herbal blood orange.

In the glass, it glows in a deep, almost provocative raspberry pink – not that delicate pale pink that hides itself, but a self-assured hue with a slight copper shimmer. Crystal clear, brilliant, with a fine, almost metallic sheen – like a sunset on warm stone.

The nose makes a statement: ripe wild strawberries, crushed cherries, along with dried hibiscus blossoms and a hint of tobacco leaf. On the second whiff, mineral notes emerge, almost graphite-like, and an herbaceous trail of rosemary and pink peppercorns. A Rosado that doesn't flirt – it leads.

Powerful, yet supple. The wine glides over the tongue like silk with resistance – it doesn't dance, but rather draws with depth. Juicy red fruits, a hint of blood orange, subtle roasted aromas, along with a firm, almost chalky acidic structure. Dry, structured, with a lingering finish.

The wine comes from high-altitude plots in Rioja Alta, where Grenache and Tempranillo grow on sparse, chalky soil. Hand-harvested, spontaneously fermented, short maceration on the skins, then aged in stainless steel with minimal intervention. Not a mainstream rosé, but a handcrafted wine with character.

La Marciana

The Serrano family has been growing wine in the Rioja Oriental for generations. With the same enthusiasm, a German-Austrian-French couple came and founded a winery with them.

The Bodegas La Marciana has its origins in the shared passion of two families. The Serrano family - more precisely: Andrés, Ramón & Álvaro - can look back on a centuries-old family tradition of winemaking in Andosilla in the Rioja. Their family owns the Mariano vineyard, which has never been vinified individually. The vines on Mariano were planted in 1900 - that's 120 years ago. On the other side are Philipp and Nadine - she a French communications specialist, he an Austrian oenologist (incidentally, Kai Schubert's roommate and friend during their time as students in Geisenheim). What unites the two families is their passion for wine, their love of Rioja and the awareness that the Mariano site with its 120-year-old vines is something very special. This site is also the basis for the passionate challenge for the two winemakers Nadine and Philipp: they want to combine the expressive style of winemaking from Châteauneuf du Pape with a focus on single-vineyard wines and pure terroir from Burgundy. A challenge that they master with flying colors.
