Weinbeschreibung

Straw yellow peach with delicate pear.

This Verdejo shines in the glass with a bright straw yellow and displays a soft, golden reflection. Its dense, slightly oily texture clings elegantly to the glass, hinting at a rich, profound aromatic structure.

This Verdejo offers seductive aromas of apple, ripe peach, and subtle pear notes, intertwined with a hint of citrus. A gentle, mineral nuance and a touch of honey and fennel lend fascinating depth to the aromatic profile.

On the palate, the wine unfurls a creamy mouthfeel with a fine, yet vibrant acidic structure. Notes of tropical fruits and subtle spice transition into a delicate minerality, which is rounded off by a long, harmonious finish.

This Verdejo is an example of traditional Spanish craftsmanship combined with modern techniques: night harvesting and controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks preserve freshness and complexity. These methods allow the strong character of the Verdejo to shine through untainted.

Arroyo Izquierdo

Fourth-generation Verdejo tradition from ancient vines.

The Rueda region is located in Castile-León – about 140km northwest of Madrid. On the high plateau between 600-800 meters above sea level, Miguel Arroyo Izquierdo now runs his family winery of the same name in the fourth generation. The sole focus of the winemaking family is on the indigenous Verdejo grape variety, which is the obvious star of the region. Often compared to Sauvignon Blanc, the grape variety brings even more creamy minerality when the winemaker knows how to handle the grape. And Miguel does just that.
His vines are much older than most vines in the region, as they stand on incredibly barren and sandy soil. The soil is so sandy that even the phylloxera bit its teeth here at the end of the 19th century and preferred to let the Spanish sun shine on its crown. Speaking of sun and heat: The Verdejo grape is largely harvested at night to prevent premature oxidation of the grapes in the usual heat of the day.
In our eyes, Miguel juggles with the Verdejo grape like no other: His wines reflect the essence of the region and are characterized by freshness, crispness and elegant minerality.
