Chablis La Vigne aux Songes 2022
Chablis La Vigne aux Songes
Chablis La Vigne aux Songes
Mineral mirabelle with sage oak.
In the glass, a clear, bright straw yellow with a slightly greenish shimmer appears. The color seems cool and precise, without losing depth. A fine, even viscosity indicates tension and structure, not opulent richness, but rather origin and vintage.
Distinct citrus notes meet the “Fleurs de Chênes” here. Subtle toast aromas crown the fruity main aromas: yellow apple, mirabelle plum, lime, vineyard peach, apricot, sage, lemon balm and a little bit of lemon thyme.
On the palate, this Chardonnay is powerful and charming. Nevertheless, its oak notes give it a creamy, soft character. Mellowness, minerality and the dominant yellow fruit make this Chardonnay a perfect all-rounder.
The vines are organically grown around Chablis and are deeply rooted in Kimmeridgian limestone. Spontaneous fermentation, aging in used oak and stainless steel, and prolonged lees contact give the wine tranquility, complexity, and character without masking its origin or diluting its clear style.
Top-quality Chablis handcrafted from a 9th generation family tradition.
The Laroche family has been cultivating vineyards in the region around the Burgundian village of Chablis since 1779, i.e. for 9 generations. The current operating generation consists of the brothers Nicolas and Vincent Laroche. Both have completed a winemaking apprenticeship in Beaune and work full-time at the winery.
The younger brother, Vincent Laroche, takes over the work in the vineyard, where he is still actively supported by his father. At the same time, he is responsible for exporting the wines.
His older brother, Nicolas Laroche, seems a little rougher in private. He loves rugby, but is responsible for the delicate development of the wines in the winery. He masters this balance between rough and graceful to perfection and expresses the terroir in a wonderful and individual way. He is curious and keen to experiment and takes the winery to a new level in the cellar.
For us, it was no question to include these wines in the Vioneers range.
We share the Laroches from La Meulière's aim of combining tradition and modernity. We particularly like the approach of not only pleasing proven wine connoisseurs, but also offering enjoyable wines of premium quality. And this is exactly the case with the wines of the Laroche family. Trying them is a must.
