Cabernet Sauvignon 2022
Cabernet Sauvignon
Cabernet Sauvignon
Structured with cassis and cedarwood
Dense, almost opaque in the glass – like liquid obsidian. The color lies somewhere between dark black cherry and inkwell, with violet reflections at the rim. The mere sight signals substance, concentration, and depth. No light-footed dancer – this is heavyweight ballet.
The nose is clearly defined but not loud: blackcurrant, ripe cherry, a hint of cedarwood, and cool graphite notes. Dark chocolate and a touch of dried bay leaf are also present—like a stroll through an elegant cigar club with cherry compote on the table. Profound yet approachable.
On the palate, the wine is like a bespoke suit made of Italian fabric: it fits perfectly, wears silkily, but has structure. The tannins are finely polished, the fruit remains powerful – dark berries, a hint of mocha, a trace of cassis. Long, smooth, with depth. Each sip digs a little deeper into memory.
100% Cabernet Sauvignon, grown on the estate's Ross Ranch in Knights Valley. Volcanic soils, a continental microclimate with cool winds – a perfect stage for slow ripening. Matured for 24 months in French oak, without frills. Minimal intervention, maximum expression.
Newcomer insider tip in Sonoma, complete with ranch romance.
About 20 years ago, Keith and Claudia Ross laid the foundation for Ross Ranch with their passion for wine. The Ross Ranch label was created in 2002, though at that time, the wines were not yet made from their own grapes. In 2018, a significant step was taken: the Ross family fulfilled their dream and acquired a piece of land in Sonoma's hidden Knights Valley – an area with volcanic soil and an ideal microclimate of warm days and cool nights. And this is where they literally put down their roots: Ten acres (about 4 hectares) of Cabernet Sauvignon and some Sauvignon Blanc along Redwood Creek found a new home and were freshly planted. From the beginning, it was clear that only grapes from their own valley would go into the glass – hyper-local and authentic.
Today, Keith and Claudia Ross run their boutique winery with almost two decades of winemaking experience and undiminished enthusiasm. Every wine reflects the soul of their ranch. Their Sauvignon Blanc, for instance, shines with crystal-clear freshness and precision. The Cabernet Sauvignon presents itself as a velvety powerhouse: structured, deep, and silky on the palate. All wines are crafted with minimal technological intervention and maximum dedication. Ross Ranch is not just a winery, but a vibrant place where wine, nature, and hospitality converge.
