Saint Véran Les Carrales 2022
Saint Véran Les Carrales
Saint Véran Les Carrales
Green pear with salty lemon balm.
In the glass, Saint Véran Les Carrales shows a clear, pale gold with slightly greenish reflections. The viscosity is fine and even; nothing appears broad or heavy. The overall impression is calm, clean, and precise, with a cool, Burgundian character.
The nose reveals clear Chardonnay aromatics with white peach, pear, and citrus zest. Floral nuances and a delicate nutty note are also present. The fruit remains restrained, supported by a chalky freshness and an unobtrusive, serious depth.
On the palate, the wine is balanced and taut. Yellow fruit, lime and a hint of almond peel intertwine cleanly. The acidity is present but well integrated. The texture remains supple, the finish is clear, dry, and characterized by mineral tension.
The soils consist of limestone marl and clay, which gives the wine fullness and clarity. Although the wine has never been aged in wood, it is rich and long-lasting.
The Martin family has been cultivating 32 hectares of vineyards in the French white wine epicenter since 1983. The result of terroir, talent and passion are first-class wines.
In the middle of the hotspot
The family winery Creuze Noire is located in the enchanted village of Leynes and creates a connection between two worlds. The vineyards are cultivated in Beaujolais and Mâcon (Burgundy), as the winery is conveniently located right in the middle of these two wine worlds. With his craftsmanship and dedication, the winemaker Dominique Martin manages to wonderfully tease out the typical characteristics of the two regions.
Martin family
Dominique and Christine Martin are the fifth generation to run this winery and are continually developing it. When Dominique took over his parents' business, the family farmed 5 hectares; today it is almost 30 hectares. In addition, the cellar and storage rooms have been expanded. What has remained unchanged and is still the heart of the estate is the idyllic sandstone family house.
The range
The wines of the Domaine de la Creuze Noire are consistently authentic and honest.
The St. Véran is considered an insider tip and is fresh on the nose and opulent in taste.
Here the diversity of the grape variety is clearly evident.
The icing on the cake is the Pouilly Fuissé “Le Clos de Monsieur Noly”, which was aged in wood for 12 months. This wine is in the top league. The range is complemented by the Beaujolais Rosé, which is fresh and clean and shows another facet of the winemaker's skills.
