The Pinot Noir Tuniberg 2020 presents itself in a bright ruby red with violet nuances, seductive and clear in the glass.
The nose is caressed by intense aromas of red cherries, juicy wild berries and a hint of violets, accompanied by subtle woody notes.
On the palate, this Pinot Noir unfolds with cool fruitiness, juicy wild berries and a lovely acidity. The noticeable tannins give it a robust structure.
The grapes were carefully picked by hand, destemmed and fermented spontaneously. After 12 months of storage in large wooden barrels, the wine presents itself as a harmonious masterpiece.
Baden pioneers: Aging Burgundy in French barriques was a novelty.
For the “Gebrüder Mathis”, winegrowing on the Tuniberg began two generations ago with a decision: the brothers Bernhard and Paul Mathis began to cultivate the storage areas of their parents' gypsum quarry as vineyards. The brothers quickly realized that their wines had not yet reached their full potential. They therefore decided to mature their Burgundy in French barriques - a first for Baden wine at the time. Inspired by the positive response to a wine that was not intended for sale, but only for their own use, the “Gebrüder Mathis” winery was founded in the 1970s.
