On the nose, the wine unfolds a complex bouquet of fresh lemon and ripe grapefruit, complemented by nuances of green apple and pear. Earthy notes of chalk and minerals underline the depth of the aroma.
On the palate, the wine is lively and refreshing with a balanced acidity. Notes of citrus and tree fruits harmonize with a light yeastiness and a fine, creamy texture. The perlage is fine and persistent, resulting in a pleasant mouthfeel.
This sparkling wine is made using traditional methods from 100% Chardonnay grapes that grow in the calcareous soils of the Baden region. The wine matures on the lees, which gives it its characteristic complexity and fine perlage.

Peter Wagner is a winner - young, focused, progressive. After studying in Geisenheim and gaining 5 years of experience as a cellar master at "the" Franz Keller from Kaiserstuhl, he took over his parents' business in Oberrotweil and started from zero to one hundred with the 2017 vintage. Peter Wagner scores points with his own style, which seems unusual for the Kaiserstuhl: he harvests his grapes relatively early in the year in order to counteract the Baden wine with its typical lush sweetness with a slim and elegant freshness. In addition, his wines are matured dry and fully fermented, stored on the yeast for a long time and bottled unfined and unfiltered.
