Château de Bousval
Decision made in the fields near Waterloo.
In 2012, Belgian nature lover Michel Verhaeghe de Naeyer decided to plant vines in the fallow fields of Wallonia. A young project in a very young wine country with legendary results. France, watch out!

A real original where there was none before: Cool Climate wine from Belgium.
In 2012, Michel Verhaeghe de Naeyer decided to put his vision of Walloon wine into practice: biodynamically produced with the highest quality standards. He completely restructured the 5.4 hectares of meadows and fields south of Brussels, planted Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris and hoped that the frosty Walloon-Belgian winters would not kill his plants.
He was rewarded in 2016 with the first harvest of Belgian wine - still an absolute novelty in the wine world. Since then, the yield has increased annually, allowing cellar masters Vincent and Romain to create a stable result in the French-speaking part of Belgium. The award-winning winery relies on biodynamic cultivation methods and reduces the use of chemicals to a minimum in order to preserve the purity and authenticity of their wines. The oenological focus is on producing wines that have both expressiveness and finesse and reflect the unique terroir - it should be purely Walloon and reminiscent of nothing else.
It is clear that the wine country of Belgium is about to become a really hot player in the wine game. The Belgian threat to French Chardonnay and Pinot Noir - and once again everything will be decided in the fields near Waterloo.
Sustainability as the core of wine production
Château de Bousval relies on biodynamic farming methods to protect the environment and maximize the quality of the wines. Avoiding synthetic chemicals and promoting biodiversity in the vineyard are central components of this philosophy. These methods not only help preserve the ecosystem, but also improve soil fertility and promote the natural resilience of the vines.
Sincerity in every step of wine production
The team at Château de Bousval attaches great importance to transparency and authenticity. Each bottle of wine reflects the honest work and commitment that has gone into its production. From the careful cultivation of the grapes to the precise winemaking, every step is carried out with the aim of producing a wine that authentically reflects both the values of the winery and the characteristics of the terroir.
Responsibility for the team in the engine room
The work in winemaking is often physically demanding and time-consuming, and not just during harvest time. Cheap workers from low-wage countries are popular. Against this background, high standards in the SOCIAL area are of fundamental importance to us.
✔ Fair wages and humane treatment
✔ Social responsibility
✔ Social commitment
"Our mission: to produce a quality wine in a quality environment that is not a Burgundy wine, not an Alsatian or Austrian wine, but a wine from the terroir of Bousval."

Wallonia.
