Oberrotweil Pinot Blanc 2022
Oberrotweil Pinot Blanc
Oberrotweil Pinot Blanc
Peach Meets Salted Almond
In the glass, the Pinot Blanc presents itself crystal clear with a pale straw yellow, shimmering slightly greenish – like fresh hay in morning dew. The viscous streaks on the glass suggest substance without being ostentatious. A first visual impression that indicates clarity, structure, and finesse.
Clear and precise on the nose: white peach, grated lemon zest, and a hint of Williams pear. Beneath this lies a smoky trace of volcanic soil, along with a touch of hazelnut from the aging process. Everything feels well thought out and understated – like a custom-made suit rather than a loud designer piece.
Full-bodied and sinewy on the palate - as if an athlete were performing in custom-made shoes. The acidity grips, but without aggression. Lots of yellow fruit, a hint of salted almond, a touch of grapefruit in the finish. Fine phenolics provide grip - almost like an unforgettable handshake.
Selection from old vines around Oberrotweil, particularly from Käsleberg, on volcanic rock with a loess overlay. Matured in large wooden barrels – not a vanilla bomb, but a subtle boost from the background. This wine doesn't seek applause, but respect. And it deserves it.
