The use of old and young wooden barrels creates a balanced structure and an incomparable play of aromas. No matter what aspect of winemaking you choose or what external factor you consider, John Skinner's plan for the best possible wine quality at Painted Rock is uncompromising. No detail is overlooked. For example, the valuable soil of the existing peach orchard was not leveled, but each tree stump was removed individually before vines were planted. And the Syrah was planted where a cool air flow through a small ravine creates the perfect microclimate. The list of examples is endless.
