Blaufränkisch 2023
Blaufränkisch
Blaufränkisch
Bold with blackberry and tobacco.
In the glass, the Lentsch Blaufränkisch Ried Lüss reveals a deep ruby red with violet reflections, reminiscent of ripe blackberries in the evening light. The play of colors appears dense and concentrated, without being overloaded. Even visually, it hints at its character: clear, focused, and precisely vinified.
The nose reveals dark berries, blackberry and black cherry, followed by fine spices, a hint of leather and a touch of tobacco. A subtle woody note frames the fruit profile. No showmanship, but honest depth, typical of Blaufränkisch from Lake Neusiedl.
On the palate, it is taut and juicy at the same time. Cool cherry aromas meet dark berries, underpinned by fine-grained tannins and invigorating acidity. The wine balances power and elegance. The texture is grippy, almost silky. The finish lingers with mineral emphasis and subtle spice.
The Ried Lüss is located on calcareous loam with slate veins – perfect conditions for Blaufränkisch. Hand harvesting, spontaneous fermentation, and aging in wooden barrels provide structure and depth. No loud barrique, but targeted finesse. The result: a wine with backbone, origin, and soul.
