Dark ruby red with a slightly violet rim, like cherry skin pressed under high pressure. In the glass, it appears dense and muscular, yet not overdone. Slow "church windows" on the glass show both power and serenity. A Cabernet that already demonstrates poise visually.
In the nose, blackcurrant, ripe cherry, and dark plum mingle with tobacco leaves. Smoke, damp forest floor, and a hint of bacon form the backbone, while cedarwood and Old World spice ground the aroma. Subtle herbs suggest high altitude and a fresh breeze.
On the palate, it builds pressure but with polished edges. Juicy black cherry, dried fruits, and a hint of pepper are framed by supple tannins. The acidity keeps everything in line, while a smoky finish lingers. Long, controlled, and impressively calm on the finish.
The grapes come from two different altitudes. Lake County delivers freshness, Napa County depth. This blend creates aromatic tension and genuine breadth of character. Oak was noticeably but intelligently used. No showmanship, but rather a balance between Californian power and old-school elegance.
