Eichberg Pinot Noir GG 2021
Eichberg Pinot Noir GG
Eichberg Pinot Noir GG
Smoky coolness meets cherry fruit
In the glass, the Pinot Noir presents a deep ruby red with a garnet rim – not loud, but distinctive. Slightly translucent, with elegant viscosity that forms slow, even streaks. A Burgundy look that visually conveys clarity and sophistication.
The nose reveals a dense yet clear curtain of red fruit: raspberry, sour cherry, and a hint of dried cranberry. Beneath lies an earthy foundation of forest floor, smoke, and wet stone. Fine spice notes of pepper, thyme, and a hint of toasted hazelnut complete the picture.
On the palate, the wine is structured and taut, with cool fruit and linear acidity – a quality that traverses the palate with precision. The tannins are present but fine-grained like dark cocoa. Blackberry, black cherry, and a hint of leather linger long on the finish.
Hand-picking, spontaneous fermentation, long lees aging and maturation in large oak barrels give the wine depth without make-up. The Grosses Gewächs comes from the VDP-classified Eichberg vineyard, where weathered volcanic soils provide the Pinot Noir with energy and a mineral grip. Authentic, distinctive, not a smoothed-out type.
