Syrah du Liban 2019

Syrah du Liban
Syrah du Liban

Powerful black cherry with fine peppery blackberry.
In the glass, the wine presents itself in a deep ruby red with violet reflections that emphasize its youthfulness and vitality. The clear, dense color indicates a high concentration and an intense taste experience.
On the nose, the wine unfolds a complex bouquet of blackberries, cassis and black cherries, complemented by fine nuances of pepper, cinnamon and leather. Delicate floral notes and a subtle wood note underline its elegant aromas.
On the palate, the wine is powerful and complex, with perfectly integrated tannins and harmonious acidity. Ripe dark fruits meet notes of chocolate, vanilla and smoke, while a long, smooth finish rounds off the structure.
This wine is the result of careful handcrafting and low yields in the Bekaa Valley. Through controlled fermentation and aging in oak barrels, it achieves its depth and balance, which reflect the exceptional terroir and tradition of the winery.
In Lebanon's oldest commercial winery, Faouzi Issa and his family grow wines like those in Bordeaux. At an altitude of over 1,000 meters. In the desert.
Even in pre-Roman times, Lebanese wine was considered a sought-after commodity. This tradition was kept alive by French Jesuits during the centuries of Muslim rule. This is how the Frenchman Francois-Eugène Brun fell in love with the Bekaa Valley in 1868 and founded the first commercial winery in Lebanon, Domaine des Tourelles (French: tourelles = little tower). The winery is now owned by the Issa family (relatives of the Brun family) and is largely managed and run by the younger generation, Faouzi Issa and his sisters Christiane and Johanne.
