Lampyris 2019

Lampyris
Lampyris

Intense blackberry with earthy milk chocolate.
The wine is a deep, dark ruby red with violet reflections, reflecting its intensity and maturity. When you swirl the glass, you get dense, even streaks that indicate a powerful, structured body. The bottle impresses with a fluorescent image of a firefly, the Lampyris.
The bouquet unfolds strong aromas of blackberry and ripe plum, accompanied by subtle, earthy notes such as leather and balsamic. Delicate accents of milk chocolate and oak give the aromas a warm, harmonious depth.
On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and smooth, with soft tannins and a perfect balance of fruit and spice. Black fruits meet nutty nuances and subtle wood notes. The finish is long, velvety and characterized by lasting elegance.
This Nero di Troia is grown according to organic standards in the Apulia region. The barren, calcareous soils and the Mediterranean climate promote intense aromas and a natural concentration. The gentle vinification preserves the fruit and highlights the complexity of this exceptional wine.
After completing his studies, the young Marco Caiaffa takes over his father's vineyards and converts everything to organic. His five siblings and millions of insects help him with his work.
After studying to become a winemaker, the young Marco Caiaffa has a vision. He wants to convert his father's vineyards to organic production and thus become a pioneer in his region. Until then, his father had sold his grapes to the local cooperative. Those days are over: Marco doesn't sell grapes, he sells his own aromatic wines. With his wines, he celebrates biodiversity like no other. For Marco, insects are the best indicator of biodiversity and successful organic viticulture. His labels are a tribute to them: fireflies, millipedes, dragonflies and many more... His five siblings support him in the vineyard and in the cellar. The whole Caiaffa family believes with Marco.
