Lemberger Heartbreaker 2017

Lemberger Heartbreaker
Lemberger Heartbreaker

Blackberry heartbreaker with white pepper.
The Heartbreaker is a rich purple-red with violet reflections and a black core in the glass.
Aromas of ripe plum, cherries and blackberries build up to a real treat when they meet white pepper, bay leaves and cedar wood, as they do here.
Although the Lemberger is strong, it has a tremendous flow. The power and fruitiness are also very pronounced in the finish.
This Lemberger was selectively hand-picked and spontaneously fermented and matured in wooden barrels. A perfect fit for this grape variety.
At the Ochsenbacher Stromberg, three generations of the Merkle family have been creating exciting wines using wild yeasts and new fermentation methods.
Respectful treatment of nature is part of the philosophy of the Merkle winery, which was founded in 1988 by Georg Merkle. The wild yeasts and their newly developed fermentation method are a bold step in this direction. Because one thing is particularly important to the Merkle family: to create a piece of authenticity with their wines in a global and uniform world.
"We are passionate about wild yeasts," reveals Anja Merkle. Her son Sandro also worked with them in his technical work. The company's own brand "Merkle Wildspontan" will continue to develop in the future.
Year after year, the vineyards are worked by hand and small leaves are removed close to the fruit all year round. This is very beneficial for both Sauvignon Blanc and Lemberger and allows for aromatic development that would be prevented by mechanical treatment.
