Weinbeschreibung

Juicy lime with honey peach.

In the glass, the Riesling presents itself in a clear, shiny straw yellow with green reflections. The color is intense and radiates purity, which suggests high quality and careful vinification.

The nose is enveloped by a complex spectrum of aromas: fresh citrus notes such as lemon and lime mix with juicy peaches, a hint of honey and fine mineral notes reminiscent of wet slate.

In the mouth, the wine is dry and balanced, with an invigorating acidity and a medium to full body. The aromas of citrus and stone fruit continue to unfold, accompanied by a subtle mineral structure and a long, elegant finish.

The wine is made from carefully selected Riesling grapes from Rheinhessen. The vines grow in calcareous soils, which gives the wine its special minerality. The vinification is carried out with great care and traditional craftsmanship in order to optimally preserve the natural aromas.

Weingut Battenfeld-Spanier

Where previously only mass-produced wines were produced, this biodynamic pioneer focused on individual vineyards.

The VdP winery Battenfeld-Spanier was founded in 1991 by Hans Oliver Spanier and has quickly become one of the most respected wineries in Rheinhessen. From the very beginning, HO Spanier decided against the Rheinhessen way of the time: mass production. As a pioneer, he recalled what had almost been forgotten: the individual vineyards, the love of the terroir, the slowness.
With the game-changing strategy of terroir wines in its luggage, HO Spanier was able to secure the best individual vineyards for a small sum in the 1990s. In the years that followed, the terroir renaissance got rolling and led the winery to great success.
A second decisive factor for success is the early decision to choose the most ecologically sensible way of growing wine: biodynamic. 30 years ahead of time, Spanier relied on natural wine, on controlled inactivity. To let the terroir shine so brightly in natural wine requires a great deal of expertise, precision and a strong intuition. HO Spanier proves in all qualities that his wines are one thing: unmistakably Rheinhessen.
