Weinbeschreibung

Very ripe plum with herbaceous forest floor.

The red Marciana - the Martian - shimmers at us in a dark violet-red.

Highly ripe aromas of stewed plum, dark fruits and a little oak play together skillfully. Slightly herbal and very subtle vegetal (forest floor).

On the palate, a beautiful tannin shines, which initially seems a little rough, but becomes more and more stimulating with each sip, ensuring a good drinking flow. The finish is long and present - a Rioja wine that you can savour for a long time.

The grapes are harvested and sorted at the beginning of October. They are fermented spontaneously for 3 weeks and then aged for 12 months in French oak barrels that have only been lightly toasted. The biological malolactic fermentation (BSA) took place in the barrel and was then coarsely filtered. The red Marciana is already ready to drink, but with a little patience it can be a lot more fun.

At Bodega La Marciana, ancient Spanish family tradition in winemaking, 120-year-old vines and an Austrian-French couple come together. The result: aromas, flavors and sensations that are out of this world. These are the wines from Mars.

La Marciana

The Serrano family has been growing wine in the Rioja Oriental for generations. With the same enthusiasm, a German-Austrian-French couple came and founded a winery with them.

The Bodegas La Marciana has its origins in the shared passion of two families. The Serrano family - more precisely: Andrés, Ramón & Álvaro - can look back on a centuries-old family tradition of winemaking in Andosilla in the Rioja. Their family owns the Mariano vineyard, which has never been vinified individually. The vines on Mariano were planted in 1900 - that's 120 years ago. On the other side are Philipp and Nadine - she a French communications specialist, he an Austrian oenologist (incidentally, Kai Schubert's roommate and friend during their time as students in Geisenheim). What unites the two families is their passion for wine, their love of Rioja and the awareness that the Mariano site with its 120-year-old vines is something very special. This site is also the basis for the passionate challenge for the two winemakers Nadine and Philipp: they want to combine the expressive style of winemaking from Châteauneuf du Pape with a focus on single-vineyard wines and pure terroir from Burgundy. A challenge that they master with flying colors.
