Weinbeschreibung

Sour cherry with crushed raspberry.

In the glass, the Pinot Noir from the Premier Cru vineyard "Les Valozières" displays a dark ruby red, playing with violet reflections – like blackberry liqueur in the shade. Dense, almost velvety, with fine transparency at the rim and elegant streaks when swirled.

The nose offers a wild, cool aromatic profile: sour cherry, crushed raspberries, dried cranberries, and a hint of undergrowth after autumn rain. These are joined by dark spices, toasted pepper, a touch of leather, and a hint of smoked bacon – smoky, tart, and finely interwoven.

The wine has grip – without being loud. Fine-grained tannin meets vibrant acidity, which cuts through like a freshly sharpened kitchen knife. On the palate, a interplay of red berries, stone, smoke and bitter cocoa bean. Cool, structured, with lingering precision and a subtly tart nobility.

Aged in barriques, with judicious use of wood – the aging aims for structure, not showiness. The Premier Cru “Les Valozières” is located directly below the Grand Cru Corton – mineral soil, lots of lime, iron-rich clay. The wine is a mirror of this terroir: edgy, deep, and full of character.

Domaine Jean Fery

Burgundy's natural diversity in a glass – cherished worldwide for generations.

The roots of Domaine Jean Féry date back to the 19th century, when the family cultivated not only wine but also currants in the Burgundian village of Échevronne (Side Note: Legend has it that these black currants once formed part of the perfume icon Chanel No. 5). In 1980, Marcelle and Jean Féry founded the winery under their own name, and their son Jean-Louis Féry took over in 1988. With great passion, he expanded the family winery with new vineyards and modern cellar technology. Today, the vineyards cover about 14 hectares – spread across numerous renowned appellations from the Côte de Nuits to the Côte Chalonnaise. The winery has been organic certified since 2011. In the cellar, the team relies on traditional methods, carefully tending to the wines and avoiding unnecessary technology. Jean-Louis' motto is simple: "Quality is priceless." The next generation is already at the helm: his sons Frédéric and Laurent continue to run the Domaine with the same passion. You can taste all of this in every bottle – Burgundy to fall in love with, honest and unadulterated.
