In 2017, Claudia Dorn founded the Sterneisen winery in Remstal, Württemberg, in a garage with just 0.5 hectares of vineyards. Less than five years later, Claudia is being celebrated as one of the most exciting newcomers in the wine world.

An American Dream - the Swabian Edition.

Since Claudia Dorn could walk, she had been working in her parents' vineyard. Growing up in the family business is something that shapes and bonds people. But as a young woman, you might not immediately see yourself following in your parents' footsteps, which is why she decided to train as a nurse. But it wasn't long before Claudia realized what she was missing: the sun, the fresh air, the smell of the wine cellar and the craftsmanship... The rest is history and the founding of her own Sterneisen winery was just a matter of time. Today, Claudia Dorn is one of the most exciting young winemakers on the wine scene.

All organic or what?

There are many definitions of what NATURAL means in winemaking. Not all winemakers are certified to treat nature responsibly. So we check for ourselves on site whether a winemaker meets our standards for treating the natural product wine.

“We give our wines the optimal conditions to develop. In the vineyard, during harvesting, pressing, fermentation and maturation. We intervene as little as possible. This allows the wines to develop individually. Our wines should reflect the climate and conditions of their vintages and not taste the same every year.” Claudia Dorn

Where exactly is the Gackerwiese?

You won't find any vineyard names on the Sterneisen label. Claudia's wines are called Gackerwiese, Poesie and Dialog, among others. With a wink or a bit of thinking outside the box, you can figure out what's in the bottle. Everything has a meaning.
