Oratorio di San Lorenzo 2020
Oratorio di San Lorenzo
Oratorio di San Lorenzo
Intense blackcurrant with dark cocoa.
In the glass, the Oratorio di San Lorenzo resembles a dark velvet curtain: deep carmine red, almost inky, with ruby reflections. This rich color acts as a promise – of density, ripeness, and a wine that lets no light through and makes no compromises.
The nose plunges into a powerful aromatic panorama: blackcurrants, blackberries, and cassis, framed by black pepper, dark cocoa, and a hint of tobacco. Added to this are balsamic notes, roasted wood, and a spicy herb blend that smells of a roaring fireplace and a spice market.
On the palate, the wine rolls like a dark wave over the tongue and palate: silky, full-bodied, with polished tannins and a freshness that holds everything together. Dark fruits and bitter chocolate set the tone, with pepper and laurel providing the backbone. The finish? Long, structured, authoritative.
This single-varietal Carménère comes from a tiny single vineyard in the Colli Berici – ancient volcanic rock, meticulously cultivated, consistently selected. Aging in fine-grained oak lends it depth and structure without distorting its character. A handcrafted statement that leaves nothing to be desired. The Oratorio di San Lorenzo is no follower. It is a monolith among Carménères – full of power, yet with the elegance of a bespoke suit. The combination of location, grape variety, aging, and craftsmanship produces a red wine that speaks volumes: uncompromising and full of character.
Northern Italian family tradition and modern methods at the Inama volcanic winery.
Inama Azienda Agricola was founded in the 1960s by Giuseppe Inama, who began acquiring small plots of land in the Soave Classico, a region known for its unique volcanic soils. Today the estate extends over 30 hectares and is run by the third generation of the Inama family. Giuseppe recognized early on the potential of the region to produce exceptional wines that impress with their mineral and floral character.
The winery now grows both red and white grape varieties. Originally known for its white Soave wines, Inama expanded its portfolio to include Sauvignon Blanc and, in the 1990s, red varieties such as Carmenère and Merlot. The family places great importance on caring for the vines and treating nature with respect in order to reflect the unique characteristics of the terroir in the wine. Today, the winery is run by son Stefano and grandchildren, Matteo, Luca and Alessio, who continue his vision with passion and a spirit of innovation.
