Domaine la Meulière
9 generations of Laroche for Chardonnay from Chablis
The Laroche family from Fleys has been cultivating Chardonnay grapes in vineyards since 1779. The Domaine De La Meulière has thus been an integral part of the local Chablis tradition for 9 generations, with a sustainable perspective on the future.
Top-quality Chablis handcrafted from a 9th generation family tradition.
The Laroche family has been cultivating vineyards in the region around the Burgundian village of Chablis since 1779, i.e. for 9 generations. The current operating generation consists of the brothers Nicolas and Vincent Laroche. Both have completed a winemaking apprenticeship in Beaune and work full-time at the winery.
The younger brother, Vincent Laroche, takes over the work in the vineyard, where he is still actively supported by his father. At the same time, he is responsible for exporting the wines.
His older brother, Nicolas Laroche, seems a little rougher in private. He loves rugby, but is responsible for the delicate development of the wines in the winery. He masters this balance between rough and graceful to perfection and expresses the terroir in a wonderful and individual way. He is curious and keen to experiment and takes the winery to a new level in the cellar.
For us, it was no question to include these wines in the Vioneers range.
We share the Laroches from La Meulière's aim of combining tradition and modernity. We particularly like the approach of not only pleasing proven wine connoisseurs, but also offering enjoyable wines of premium quality. And this is exactly the case with the wines of the Laroche family. Trying them is a must.
Haute Valeur Environnementale Level 3 & Vignerons Indépendants
The winery is certified according to HVE level 3. This guarantees that all work steps on the winery are carried out 100% by the winery's own efforts. This includes cultivation, rearing, harvesting, vinification, bottling and sales. A great focus is on biodiversity in the vineyard and on sensitivity. There is no strict program here - the Laroche brothers listen to what the soil and the vines have to say.
Trust as the most important currency
Over 50 additives can be used in wine production, none of which have to be listed on the label. Mass-produced and cheap wines are flooding the market with artificially produced smells, appearances and tastes. The security of holding an HONEST product in your hand is therefore our top priority.
✔ 100% family wineries
✔ Personal relationship with the winemaker
✔ No influence from ratings, seals or points
Responsibility for the team in the engine room
The work in winemaking is often physically demanding and time-consuming, and not just during harvest time. Cheap workers from low-wage countries are popular. Against this background, high SOCIAL standards are of fundamental importance to us.
✔ Fair wages and humane treatment
✔ Social responsibility
✔ Social commitment
