Weinbeschreibung

Spicy black cherry with juicy violet.

The Domaine Taupenot-Merme Morey-Saint-Denis Premier Cru La Riotte impresses with its brilliant ruby red color with garnet nuances. The dense church windows in the glass indicate a concentrated structure and high aging potential.

An intense bouquet of red fruits such as cherry and cranberry unfolds on the nose, accompanied by subtle spicy notes such as cinnamon and pepper. Earthy aromas of mushroom and wet stones meet a hint of violet and lavender.

On the palate, the wine has a lively acidity and taut, fine-grained tannins. The juicy fruit of black cherries is complemented by nuances of tobacco and dark chocolate. The long, elegant finish remains mineral and spicy.

This Pinot Noir comes from the renowned Premier Cru site of La Riotte. The vines grow on clay and limestone soils, which characterize the mineral profile. Hand-picking, gentle vinification and aging in French oak barrels (30% new) make the wine a masterpiece.

Domaine Taupenot - Merme

Virginie and Romain have revived a sleeping giant.

The siblings Virginie and Romain Taupenot cultivate over 13 hectares with 19 appellations from Auxey-Duressees in the south to Gevrey-Chambertin in the north of the Côte d'Or, producing a range that is as diverse as it is qualitatively homogeneous. Since the beginning of the millennium, organic farming without labels has revived a wine region that was born in 1974 from the union of the two owner families and that has since then awaited the passionate commitment of the current generation of owners to revive the full potential of the highly sought-after plots, in particular Mazoyères-Chambertin and Charmes Chambertin in the Grand Cru.
