Heymann-Löwenstein
Terroir tradition from the Terrace Moselle.
The Heymann-Löwenstein winery in Winningen on the Moselle stands for masterful Rieslings that reflect the unique character of the ancient slate soils - since 1520.

Masterful Mosel Rieslings, characterized by tradition, terroir and an unmistakable winemaker philosophy
The Heymann-Löwenstein winery, founded in 1980 by Reinhard Löwenstein and Cornelia Heymann-Löwenstein in Winningen, is a pioneer in the Moselle region. The roots of winegrowing in the Löwenstein family go back to the 16th century. Today the winery covers around 15 hectares, almost entirely planted with Riesling vines. The wines are produced on slate soils that are over 400 million years old and reflect the diversity of these unique terroirs. Reinhard Löwenstein, often referred to as the "slate whisperer", attaches great importance to the authenticity of his wines. Spontaneous fermentation, long maceration and careful vinification in large wooden barrels characterize the wines, which are known for their complexity and depth.
Organic viticulture with respect for nature
The Heymann-Löwenstein winery relies on ecologically sustainable viticulture that respects nature and its resources and has this certified by Fair 'n' Green. The vines are fed exclusively organically, including compost. The manual work in the steep slopes of the terraced Moselle and the avoidance of chemical aids protects the soil and promotes biodiversity. These methods reflect the winery's deep respect for the natural cycle and contribute to the high quality of the wines.
Honest wines, characterized by authenticity and craftsmanship
The philosophy of the Heymann-Löwenstein winery is based on the idea that every wine should reflect the authenticity of its origin. By avoiding pure yeasts and using minimal technical interventions, the character of each location and each vintage remains unadulterated. This approach, coupled with deep craftsmanship, creates wines that are honest, complex and multi-layered at the same time. The wines embody the Heymann-Löwenstein family's devotion and commitment to quality and authenticity. Reinhard Löwenstein's eloquent manner and his publications on the broad and narrow path are particularly impressive. A real reading recommendation on https://www.hl.wine/der-schmale-weg !
Social commitment to the community
The Heymann-Löwenstein winery is not only committed to excellent winemaking, but also to the community in the region and beyond. The family supports local initiatives and projects that enrich the spiritual, cultural and social life in the region, such as the Winningen Art Days. A winemaking partnership with an Israeli winery is also worth mentioning.
