Velvety with cherry and tobacco
The solitaire from Schwegler is a deep ruby red with shimmering garnet reflections. The clarity is flawless and the dense color indicates a high concentration and a complex character - a wine that seduces even in the glass.
A complex bouquet of ripe cherry, blackcurrant and a hint of mint unfolds on the nose. The fruity play is underlined by notes of dark chocolate, spicy tobacco and a subtle nuance of roasted aromas reminiscent of freshly ground coffee.
On the palate, the wine is lush yet precise, with velvety tannins and a harmonious acid structure. The taste is dominated by ripe dark fruit, fine spice and a long, elegant finish accompanied by subtle wood notes.
Made from carefully selected grapes that grow on poor, mineral-rich soils. The balance of fruit, tannin and structure is perfected through gentle aging in barriques. Why is this wine special? It combines terroir, tradition and artisanal precision.
Consistent, of course.
The Schwegler family controls the nutrition of the vines exclusively through the introduction of organic material, through species-rich sowing and a lot of manual work. This philosophy is consistently continued in the cellar: mostly made from natural wood, their wines are bottled untreated and unfined after a long barrel aging with minimal sulphur. With the 2019 vintage, they had their sustainable working methods in the vineyard, which they have been practicing for decades, certified.
