Tradition as quality assurance.

The Ermel family can look back on an impressive history of winemaking. The craft has been passed down from father to son since 1795. Each generation brings something new, but much remains the same. In the cellar, the beautiful, old built-in tanks are looked after and the shaking table, on which the senior regularly shakes the champagne bottles, has certainly been in use for several decades. Here, David Ermel Senior turns the vintage Crémants by hand every day and adds jokingly: "My sons want me to be busy enough too." Traditionally, mainly white grape varieties are bottled here, but a small area of Pinot Noir is also cultivated.

Respect for the homeland.

David Ermel's identification with his homeland and the nature of Alsace couldn't be greater. Accordingly, respectful and careful treatment of the environment is a high priority in his wine-growing philosophy. Sufficient greenery between the rows of vines to promote biodiversity, 100% hand-picking and careful processing are just a few examples.

The location

Top wines from the Grand Cru Rosacker vineyard.

The vineyards clearly show what makes this region, these wines and these locations so special. The house's top wines are made from Gewürztraminer and Riesling grapes in the Grand Cru Rosacker location. Thanks to the barren soil and the many hours of sunshine, the wines from this location are full of fruit and have very good aging potential. The heart of Ermel's vineyards is in the town of Hunawihr. A small vineyard is located directly behind the village church. It is planted with Chardonnay, which is used to make the fantastic Crémants.
