The Red Icon 2015 presents itself in deep ruby red with garnet reflections, promising and impenetrable in its visual opulence.
Intense oak notes blend with dark fruits, from blackberry to plum, accompanied by subtle spices and a hint of lavender.
An elegant structure unfolds on the palate. Smooth tannins envelop aromas of chocolate, vanilla and a hint of black spices.
This wine rested for 18 months in French oak barrels, which ensures its complex structure and the harmonious integration of aromas.

No matter which aspect of winemaking one picks out or which external factor one considers, John Skinner uncompromisingly implements his plan for the best possible wine quality with Painted Rock. No detail is overlooked. For example, the valuable soil of the existing peach orchard was not bulldozed away, but each tree stump was individually removed before vines were planted. And the Syrah was planted where a cool airflow through a small gorge creates the perfect microclimate. The list of examples is endless.
