Weinbeschreibung

Green apple dances with candied lemon.

In the glass, this Atlantic blend shimmers in a pale straw yellow with greenish reflections – clear, precise, with youthful tension. Its appearance is like a morning sunbeam on damp gravel: fresh, cool, and energetic. There's no hint of heaviness; everything seems controlled and lively.

The nose opens with a playful interplay of aromas, featuring ripe green apple, white peach, and candied lemon. Behind these, subtle tropical notes emerge—lychee, a hint of pineapple—along with a cool, chalky minerality. The overall impression is like a fresh fruit basket on a wet rock.

On the palate, juicy and straightforward with lively, well-integrated acidity. Exotic aromas dance on the tongue, accompanied by a subtle yeasty note that gives the wine structure and substance. A creamy mid-palate meets a citrusy draw – the whole finishes clear, dry, and focused.

Grown on gravelly loam soils in south-facing plots directly on the Gironde estuary. Hand harvest, leaf removal, separate vinification of both grape varieties, and six months of aging in stainless steel tanks on the fine lees give it precision, texture, and character. No show-off effect – pure substance.

Domaine Grains d'Estuaire

A grain of Bordeaux: Biodynamic terroir wines from the most legendary estuary.

The wine world of the Bordeaux region is shaped by the rivers Garonne and Dordogne. These flow together in the gigantic Gironde estuary, which also gives the department, i.e. the federal state, its name. The wine game of Bordeaux wines distinguishes between right and left of the estuary. The proximity to the Gironde is always relevant. This proximity is also offered by the neighboring region of Charente Maritime and especially the small town of Saint-Bonnet-sur-Gironde. This is where Julien Bonneau, a respected Bordeaux winemaker from Château Haut Grelot in Blayais, and Alexandre Lavigne, a talented chef from Saint-Palais-sur-Mer, joined forces. On the pebble-rich soil along the Gironde estuary, they cultivate 10 hectares of vineyards using organic and biodynamic methods. Through a careful selection of traditional grape varieties and a deep respect for the terroir, Grains d'Estuaire produces gastronomic wines of exceptional quality and expressiveness that capture the essence of Charente-Maritime and its legendary neighborhood, at prices that Bordeaux fans can only dream of.
